Snow Lake and Gem Lake

In the summer, Snow Lake is one of the most popular hikes in the I-90 corridor as it is easy to find from the Alpental Ski Area parking lot and a beautiful lake to cool off in on a hot day. We decided to hike up to Snow Lake after the first snow fall had hit the mountains which made it a much quieter and more beatiful hike.

Bearhead Mountain & Summit Lake

Bearhead Mountain and Summit Lake has to be the best hike in Washington state that I’d never heard about until the day before we did this hike.  It was listed as a favorite on the WTA.org website and I can understand why.  On a clear day, it has stunning views of Mt. Found Lake

Located in the North Cascades, Found Lake is one of the most challenging “day hikes” that we did last summer. The road gives up a few hundred feet from the trailhead due to multiple washouts. From the trailhead, the former dirt road is overgrown but it meanders its way up the hillside, until you get to a clearing. From there, it is straight-up them Mountain until you get to the saddle point. Once you are there, its a pretty steep trip down to the lake. A tough hike but the views are well worth it.

Talapus, Ollalie, Pratt and Tuscohatchie Lakes

Also known as the four lake estravaganza, this hike is a nice sampler of the lakes accessible from the I-90 corridor just west of Snoqualmie Pass. The hike starts at the Talapus Lake trailhead where we hiked up to Talapus, around the east and north shores of Ollalie. From there we climbed to a pass and down around the east shore of Pratt Lake and on to our destination, Lower Tuscohatchie.
